woke up yesterday feeling heaps better
but by afternoon i was reduced to an aching coughing nose a-dripping mess
*^&%&^$% give me false hope all
thought i was getting better

i dun remember taking such a long time to recover from flu leh
so i thought ok maybe it's coz i haven't been sleeping well (was trying to study for my test)
so i slept early last night
but ended up waking up every 2 hours to drink water coz my throat was so dry and painful
then i thought ok maybe it's psychological
so i tried adopting a cheerful and "i'm all recovered" demeanour
but it doesn't work either

what to do what to do

*sigh*

anyways i tried going for lecture yesterday
though i was coughing and sneezing and blowing my nose half the time
damn paiseh
here's what i learnt

am sick again..

i'm usually healthy back in singapore falling sick once a year

but i seem to be cracking a record once a month over here..
second time falling sick now
down with the flu virus
and i mean pretty darn sick
fever for 2 whole days
headache
myalgia
sore throat

nasal congestion
sneezing
chills

i was even too weak to shower yesterday ;p

well the thing is
tomorrow's my mid semester exam
but in my current state i'll probably drip mucus all over the paper
went to the doc's and got myself an mc

first time ever that i'm gonna miss a test

sucks too coz if i were healthy the topics tested are pretty alright and i have the confidence to get a good grade

it has been pretty fun watching the cook shows at lio's place and cooking meals for myself!
it's like play time in the kitchen! heh..

a nice comfy kitchen

as i was lazing my days away in the cold melbourne winter..
(lio's house has no heater and so i was essentially in hibernation mode the entire time)
a little surprise popped out and brightened by day
*and my feet!*

finally moved outta lio's place after a month of living outta the suitcase
felt like a nomad.. floating and unsettled..
moved into a 2br apt with my 2 other housemates.. charis and i will be sharing a room
dun think i'll make a bad roomie.. but our room's pretty teeny :(
and there's talk abt the rent increasing should we extend the lease of this apt
*stress*
despite the above.. i really like this place
nice modern decor.. clean lines.. cool colours..
and a pretty kitchen!

i went to the pahran market!
missy lj told me to check out these gorgeous looking cupcakes!!
took a train to this suburb miles away from melbourne city for this cupcake hunt
so fun so fun! hee
but they look better than they taste..

sorry i took such a long time to update on my goings in melbourne..
school's been terrific but the entire house searching and apt hunting's really dragging me down..
high rent prices..
hardly any 3brs available..
tons of competition..
sucks to feel so unsettled.. i really do try to believe that things will work out..
tho the multiple rent application rejections aren't exactly helping..
will continue to stay positive..

it was a weekend of sun sea and sand
we were really worried initially coz it's the monsoon season
hours of web surfing told us that krabi rains 28 days in the month of may! so what are the odds that we'll get 4 days of sunshine?

had my event last weekend

i haven't stepped in there for the longest time.. it used to be our regular meeting place coz it's so near to sch and we could all saunder down and still be able to catch the happy hour at baden
but now that we're no longer cooped up in nus and work ends at 8.. heading down to good ol' holland takes determination and resolve that this lazy lump of me lack a whole deal of.. so gradually i forgot how great dear erdinger tastes at baden or how infectious the music is at walas..
until dear ol' holland got revisited.. TWICE.. this week :)
it's undeniable that the journey there was arduous (in both occasions i had prior engagement in town which is considerably nearer to holland v compared to my humble abode) but when i got there.. it was worth it
first it was a catching up session with S and B.. i had such a great time as we updated each other with our lives.. conversations flowed back to back infused with ripples of laughter.. those kind that make dear S's eyes fill with tears heh!
then it was lastnight's drinking session at baden.. erdie (yup we're that tight that we have pet names for each other;p) really tastes different there! Innitially I only wanted a round of the happy juice but my sadly incompetent resolve allowed me to guzzle down my second;p then we had tze char after the drinks.. it's a pity the bbq wings are sold out when we got there

so so.. dear ol' holland i'm sorry for neglecting you all this while you'll always have a special place in my alcohol-filled heart

p.s: dear science friends i know "alcohol-filled heart" may bug you but i'm rushing out of my home now and have no time to come up with something better ;p

it's difficult sometimes.. to wake up having to accept that certain people are just not there anymore..

for the longest time i've been trying to keep my heart protected..
but i feel like it's gone through beatings after beatings this year..
i've learnt to keep certain feelings in a box and let my tears flow only when they leak out at certain times of the night..
i cried when i shower so the tears are just like the water flowing over my head and down my cheeks and the sobs are drowned so only i can hear myself..
but i feel like i'm so used to wanting to be in control of what i feel that i don't know what to do now..

woke up at 10 with barely 5hours of sleep to go to the bank
went back home to get my cell phone which i forgot to bring out
but on the way to the bus stop i bought myself a new dress haha!
rushed to borders to exchange a book but norwegian wood was out of stock

met sw and he brought me to waraku for dinner!
wah the food was really good! everything he ordered like super yummy then the stuff i ordered like either soggy or kena cheated.haha
ordered these scallops which turned out to be turnips (or its relative) in disguise!! wah white colour little roundies slightly toasted look super like scallops lah! then my macha soba were like soggified and nuah.. heh
but the cheese salmon beef carpaccio and tofu eel egg were really yummy!

and it's the first time i tried warm sake!
felt like i was drinking shots.. haha

it was my ex-student's mom asking me to teach her daughter again
my student (who one day outta the blue told me she wanna quit school) is gonna return to her studies!!
i actually felt this sudden surge of joy

finally went for my very first night cycling!! heard so much about night cycling and the pit-stops at the various food places.. like shi zhi lu kou!! fun fun!! so hj and lj and i rented bikes from this really nice lady at east coast (highly recommended ask me for contact.. heh) and set off to get our bbq chix wings! then we wheeled to bedok to get yummy mince meat noods!! then when we were heading to geylang for our next food quest.. I HAD TO BLOODY FALL OFF THE BIKE ONTO DAMN SUPER ROUGH GROUND!!! *sobs*

very pain..

was cycling upslope which was damn tiring then my silly mind wandered off to thinking about the g-stuff!! stupidity! then i scared myself and lost my concentration and my wheel went off the pavement at a teeny turn downslope.. and i knew it.. i knew i was gonna fall.. it wasn't even a tricky maneuvre.. i cursed a little and told myself i needed to jump and abandon bike! but the seat was really high and the bike very heavy.. as i fell and got dragged a little.. i thought.. damnit.. i don't want to have bloody wounds..

but i did lar..

very pain..

my toe looks like a prop from a horror movie.. in addition to the bloody injuries on my foot, knee and elbow.. the fall also chipped in additional blueblack bruises here and there.. SIAN!! it was only 130 lor!! all the food awaiting before me!! and my legs!! not pretty anymore!!! =(

nonetheless the little adventure was quite fun lar heh! went to lijing's place (continued cycling in the bloody mess after resting and hth-ing at the bus stop for 2hours) and had choya to ease the pain.. haha!!

alrighty.. enough of gore.. it was my parent's bdays yesterday and the day before..

and i did my first wall painting!! thanks for trusting me with your wall heh! though i thought it could've been better.. the enamel dries so quickly I didn't have time to do the blending as i wanted.. hope you like it!!

went for my sister's graduation awards ceremony in hwa chong *grumbles* institution.. *bleach* ;p well it's always gonna be hwa chong junior college to me! =3 little updates on what's up with the teach! Mrs Woo's retired.. her name was flashed on the overhead projector along with 2 others when Mr Ang was giving the school report.. Miss Quek has won some really prestigious teacher's award and was abroad being the chief coordinator for the big big physics olympiad!! *appluase* She's been a wonderful teacher and it's great that she's acknowledged for her contribution and dedication =) Then i saw Mrs Foo and i tapped on her shoulders.. she furrowed her brows for a millisecond before a wave of recognition hit her and she went "Stephanie!" =D (Then she abandoned the 6 students she was talking to and turned around to chat with me.. haha! suckers!! ;P kidding!heh..) She said to send her regards to all of 00S72 and said it's impossible to forget us even if she wants to.. hhaha!!

it's kinda bittersweet to go back to hcjc.. while we were waiting for the guest-of-honour to arrive.. they played a hwa chong tribute video on the stage.. interviewing the famous alumni and showing happy faces chanting the hwa chong cheer.. and the statistics about producing numerous students that proceeded to enter ivy leagues and ox-bridge universities.. and i was hit by a feeling like i was punched in my stomach.. i wish i had made better use of the opportunities that were present in that "world reknown" institution.. yes I've always been able to do well.. but I have never put enough effort into my studies to place myself among the creme ala creme.. I didn't think that to be where I want to be in future.. I needed to do so much more when I was younger..

and did I tell my sis was denied 2 S-papers and was given 1 instead? She completed her A's with 4 A'level distinctions and 1 S-paper distinction lar! I'm confident that if she was given that 2nd S-paper.. she'd have gotten a distinction in that as well and would've been able to apply to the scholarships she's wanted to apply to.. *bleahs*

But well.. all these aside.. I do feel a little pang of nostalgia towards hcjc.. despite graduating not knowing 90% of my cohort.. I left knowing people I wouldn't exchange for Bill Gates, Zidane or Crouch (haha!;p).. and surprisingly.. albeit never attending a single MAF (hcjc's biggest event) or Huang Cheng (skipped it to sneak into Mariah Carey's Concert haha!) or ever completing a Hwa Chong cheer.. I do feel a tad attached to the school.. and seeing the faces of the graduants receiving their awards on stage.. I really think it is one of the best schools in Singapore.. and am kinda proud that it's a part of my life..

I also came back with a resolution.. though yes.. I can never go back to the missed opportunities that could've made my life now much easier and perhaps happier (?? from both hcjc and NUS actually ^_^).. that doesn't mean there's nothing I can do now to lead me to what I eventually envision myself to achieve.. I've come to think that things happen for a reason.. and also that it's never too late.. =)

i hope this optimism lasts long.. heh! ;p
